This event, held in the historic Old College Square, brings together Regiments and Corps from across the British Army to showcase their roles, equipment, and people. Each unit sets up its stand, allowing the junior intake cadets to visit, interact, and learn more about the options available to them in the future.

For many cadets, the day offers much more than just a chance to see the latest military hardware. The real value lies in the opportunity to speak directly with soldiers and young officers from various units. These interactions provide a first-hand perspective on life within different Regiments and Corps, offering insights that go beyond what can be read or taught in a classroom. For cadets who already have an idea of the units they hope to join, this day allows them to confirm or refine their choices by deepening their understanding of the roles available.

For others, particularly those with little prior military experience, Arms and Services Display Day is a source of inspiration. Engaging with different units often opens up new possibilities that cadets may not have previously considered. Some cadets arrive with fixed ideas about which part of the Army they want to be commissioned into, but a conversation with an enthusiastic officer or soldier can sometimes shift their perspective, prompting them to rethink their career path.

Later in their course, cadets attend a Careers Fair inside Old College, where they meet Regimental and Corps representatives in a more formal setting. This provides another opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and further clarify their options. By the end of the day, most cadets will have a clearer idea of the Regiments or Corps they are interested in and will begin narrowing their preferences to two or three choices.

In the weeks that follow, cadets will visit the units they are most interested in, gaining a closer look at daily life and operations within those Regiments. This experience is invaluable in helping them make informed decisions. Once they have completed their visits, they submit their final choices to Regimental Selection Boards in the first week of their senior term, where they will ultimately determine the unit they will join after commissioning.

Arms and Services Display Day is a crucial part of a cadet’s journey at Sandhurst, helping shape the decisions that will guide their military careers. It’s not just about choosing a unit, but about finding the best fit for their skills, aspirations, and leadership potential.
