The first notable HOT summer.. 1976 .. when Barossa training area was liable to burst into flames and the 'blues' were very tight and incredible heat sinks!

An SMC that saw the passing away of The Viscount Montgomery of Alamein KG GCB DSO PC DL; those of Alamein Company attended as his funeral party and did so with reversed SLRs.

An SMC that held a very early morning full dress parade (without SLRs) in Trafalgar Square, much to the amazement of late revelers and early risers.

Our course started in the frigid winter on the 5th January 1976 and after 30 weeks 133 of us were finally commissioned in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. (Gazetted in No. 47019 The London Gazette of 20th September 1976)

Finally for years afterwards the left hand wing of New Collage had painted tiles covering the farewell message from SMC 11!

In attendance at White's at a splendid luncheon organised by 5024** Bernard Hornung; Peter Ketley, James Crawford, Tim Checketts, Richard Bampfylde, John Edwards, Philip Amadeus, Pete Drummond, Paul de Zulueta, Mike Pearson, Andy Field, Lloyd Roberts, Stephen Leach, David Simpson, Simon Fishwick, Peter Battle, Lucius O'Brien , Nick Clissitt. (5 cavalry officers, always one gunner officer, one RE officer, 2 RSigs officers, 4 guards officers, 2 PARA officers, one AAC officer and of course last but not least 2 REME officers)
