The Band and Bugles of The Rifles entertain ST Members at a Sounding Retreat

On 3rd August 2023, members of the Sandhurst Trust and their guests enjoyed a Summer Reception, Sounding Retreat and Buffet Supper at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Thankfully the recent wet and windy weather stayed away long enough for guests to enjoy the evening and the sun even shone for a short time.

Attendees were welcomed to Old College with a Drink’s Reception held in the Grand Entrance and on the steps of Old College. Members and their guests made the most of the opportunity to socialise and enjoy the impressive backdrop from the top of the steps.

Attendees were then entertained with a mixture of military and popular music from The Band and Bugles of The Rifles including a version of Come on Eileen which the audience seem to particularly enjoy.

Following the Sounding Retreat, attendees moved to the Indian Army Memorial Room for a hot supper and a further chance to socialize with other members attending the event. This also provided a great opportunity for staff to mingle with the attendees and hear their thoughts on the Sounding Retreat and stories from their time at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Sandhurst Trust were pleased to welcome Commandant RMAS, Major General Zac Stenning OBE to the event who took the salute at the end of the Sounding Retreat and joined guests afterwards for supper.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you and well done for organising such a wonderful evening at Sandhurst last night. It is always a very special place to return to and last night was no exception with such a well run event, even the weather played its part!

Thank you so much for organising such a great evening for us yesterday at the Sounding of Retreat, followed by the delicious meal. It was all very much enjoyed and appreciated, both by ourselves and our guests.
