On this date 1950 Intake 5 - Sovereign's Parade

75 years ago. The Sovereign's Parade for Intake 5 took place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Extract from Wishstream August 1950

The Sovereign’s Parade for Seniors V, held on Friday 21st July, 1950 was taken by H.R.H General The Duke of Gloucester, K.G., who was accompanied by the Secretary of State for War.  Once again we were in luck, for after an early morning of heavy rain, the sky cleared, and as the Duke advanced up the King’s Walk towards the dais the sun broke through.  His Royal Highness congratulated the Cadets on their turn-out and bearing on parade, and also the Senior Term on their achievements, both military and academic.

It has been decided that for future Sovereign’s Parades certain civilian employees will be selected for presentation to Royalty or His Majesty’s representative.  On this particular occasion the following were presented: Messrs. W.J.Webb, H.A. Ward, F.W. Webb, C.J.G. Clarke, F.W. Hammond and W.H.L Gibbons.

The Sovereign's Company Competition in the Summer Term, 1950, was won by Dettingen Company
