Commissioning Course CC 233 has formed up in Old College at the start of their 44 week course. They are divided into Borneo, Falklands and Imjin Companies.
The intake consists of 262 Officer cadets, 221 British and 41 Internationals.
Of the British cadets, 32 are female. The average age is 23 with the youngest 18 and the oldest 29. 57% were educated in State schools and 73% are university graduates. 5% of the course are soldier entrants, 43% were in a University Officer Training Corps and 55% in one of the cadet forces. Finally, 32% of the UK cadets have a close family member who has served in the armed forces of which 19 cadets were non-commissioned ranks.
The international cadets hail from 23 countries and include five females. Some of the countries represented are Albania, Botswana, Germany, Indonesia, Iraq, Lebanon, Malta and Paraguay and also the first ever cadet from Ecuador.
Since 1947, over 5,300 cadets from 133 countries have trained at Sandhurst.
During week 2, as a welcome to Sandhurst all Officer Cadets receive a historical tour from our director including a trip to the International Statue.
All Officer Cadets also receive a gift bag from the Sandhurst Trust, which this time included a notebook, postcards and pen.
Thank you for the gift bags which you kindly provided us with. The postcards are on the way already to our families to remind the why we are all at such a fantastic institution.
It is so reassuring that we have such a brilliant trust, in order to help us all through Sandhurst.
