On Wednesday 24th January, officer cadets from CC241 viewed the arms and services display. The display features equipment, officers and soldiers from across the army arrayed across Old College square.
The equipment on display ranged from the huge Challenger 2 tank to Recovery vehicles and the venerable FV 432, the army's armoured workhorse still going strong after an astonishing sixty years.
The Royal Artillery provided both sides of the modern and ancient spectrum with a Watchkeeper Unmanned Aerial Vehicle next to a Great War era 13 pounder field gun from King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
Finally, the Army Air Corps provided a Wildcat helicopter used in the reconnaissance and lile and an Apache attack helicopter. Always a great sight to see these machines arrive and leave the Academy.
With many cadets coming to Sandhurst with limited or no previous military experience the display is an essential first strand of the choice of arm process. For the ’floating voters’ it gives the cadets chance to see the huge variety of career choices on offer, talk to soldiers in those units and, above all, speak to recently commissioned officers about their role.
