The Future Leaders Group (FLG) returned to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst last month, with their event facilitated by Sandhurst Trust, to deliver the final two modules of its personal development programme for aspiring board-level executives.
Over the course of two days, participants reflected on their leadership journeys with their coach, Elizabeth Beroud, and took part in an immersive crisis management exercise led by Richard Westley OBE MC. The setting provided a fitting backdrop for both reflection and challenge, reinforcing the programme’s emphasis on leadership under pressure.
Alongside the formal modules, the group enjoyed a tour of Old College and the Royal Memorial Chapel, followed by a black-tie dinner in the historic Peninsular Room, hosted by Seumas Kerr CBE in the company of their sponsors and guest of honour, Javier Echave.
As ever, the cohort brought together a diverse mix of leaders from across the public and private sectors. It’s one of the programme’s defining strengths and a key contributor to the richness of the peer-learning experience. This year’s participants represented organisations including Serco, Northrop Grumman, CBRE, the Home Office, Ploughshare, Beacon Rail and ARC Ratings.
Reflecting on the experience, Elizabeth Beroud said:
“An important part of the FLG programme is helping participants to understand their unique leadership strengths and how they can put them at the service of their teams and organisations. It is a privilege to conclude the journey at Sandhurst, whose motto ‘Serve to Lead’ sits at the very heart of FLG. And there could be no more fitting setting for our Crisis Management module.
A personal highlight was the candle-lit dinner in the Peninsular Room, where participants were joined by their sponsors to celebrate their achievements and share their reflections from the course. My thanks to the Sandhurst Trust for such a warm welcome. We very much look forward to returning in 2027 with our next cohort.”
One participant commented:
“Sandhurst was a great venue and a fitting end to the course—a couple of days that will stay with me for a long time… It may be some time before I see a horse climbing steps again.”
Note on the Future Leaders Group
The FLG programme is aimed at high-potential talent profiles who aspire to senior or Board-level positions within their organisations. Since 2019 they have concluded seven programmes within our historic walls. There are three main strands to the course, which lasts 10 months.
Strengths-based leadership development: individual and group coaching, peer learning, individual reflection, mentoring.
Business skills: 10 in-person modules, split in 5 two-day blocks held at the Strategy International offices in Westminster, at Bayes Business School in the City and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Networking: private dinners and events throughout the programme in partnership with the D Group and BEI.
If you think you or someone in your organisation would benefit from a place on the Future Leaders Group programme, please contact Elizabeth Beroud - elizabeth@beroudconsulting.com. You can also find out more on the FLG website and LinkedIn page.
The next cohort starts in September 2026.
