The Pride of Bracknell Forest Awards marked its 20th anniversary with a memorable ceremony held at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on Friday, April 25. The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of individuals and groups who make Bracknell Forest a thriving and compassionate community.
Distinguished guests included Lord Lieutenant Andrew Try, Constable Governor of Windsor Castle Phil James, local mayors, MP Peter Swallow, and other notable figures, all gathered to honour the borough’s most inspiring residents.
This year’s nominees represented a wide range of categories—from Charity of the Year to Teacher of the Year—highlighting the diversity and dedication within the community. Winners came from all walks of life, including schoolchildren and centenarian Jessie Ritchie, 105, who was recognised for a lifetime of service.
Broadcasting veteran Andrew Peach returned as host for his 20th consecutive year, joined by Reading football legend Ady Williams. Reflecting on his longstanding connection with the town, Peach said:
"It is a delight to be back here for the 20th year in a row. Bracknell holds a very special place in my heart"
Although no longer a local resident, Bracknell-born Williams expressed his fondness for the area, saying:
“It’s a wonderful place full of wonderful people.”
The event also welcomed past award recipients and influential community figures, celebrating the legacy and continued growth of the awards since their inception in 2005 at the Grange Hotel. Over the years, the ceremony has been hosted at various local venues, including Bracknell and Wokingham College and Wellington College, before finding a fitting stage at Sandhurst.
MP Peter Swallow praised the event, saying:
“There is so much that goes on in Bracknell Forest, and it’s really important that we take the time to celebrate it and recognise the incredible achievements of young people, businesses, and community groups in this fantastic area.”
This year’s categories included:
Each category honoured two recipients with gold and silver awards, ensuring wide recognition for the breadth of achievement across the borough.
