Sandhurst Trust Events
The Sandhurst Trust run a number of member exclusive events through the year including our
popular Summer Beating Retreat and Christmas Carol Concert.
Beating Retreat
Held each summer at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Beating Retreat is always a well-attended member’s event.
The Ceremony of Beating Retreat originates from the early years of organised warfare when the drum was used for all signals on the battlefield. Regulations for the Army stipulate that Beating Retreat should be beaten at sunset.
Carol Concert
First run in 2022, our Carol Concert is a joint event with the Royal Memorial Chapel.
The Service was taken by all three Academy Padres, guests were treated to a selection of Christmas Carols and readings from Sandhurst Trust staff and tour guides.
Afterwards a curry supper was enjoyed in the Indian Army Memorial Room.
The 2023's event promises to be bigger and better.
Membership of the Sandhurst Trust
Who can join the Sandhurst Trust?
(1) Those who have commissioned/graduated from RMAS.
(2) Those who served at commissioned rank in the British Army (Regular, TA, Reserve, ACF/CCF) regardless of entry method (e.g Mons).
(3) Those who have served on the staff of RMAS (military or civilian).
(4) Those serving in University OTCs.
