We were delighted to welcome the Future Leaders Group (FLG) last month. Participants attended the last two modules of their programme at our home here in Sandhurst. They enjoyed a visit of our chapel, as well as a superb candle-lit dinner in the impressive Peninsular Room and joined by their sponsors.
There could be no better place to reflect on their leadership journey and work through a crisis management case study led by Richard Westley OBE MC. As one participant said, “It was the perfect location for the finale of the course”.
The FLG programme is aimed at high-potential talent profiles who aspire to senior or Board-level positions within their organisations. Since 2019 they have concluded 5 programmes within our historic walls. There are three main strands to the course, which lasts 10 months.
Unusually the Future Leaders Group operates with small cohorts of c.10 people who come from a mix of public and private sector backgrounds, an aspect often cited as a key USP of the course. FLG participants have come from organisations as wide ranging as Bechtel, Lockheed Martin, Tata, Atos, MOD, Armed Forces, and Home Office over the years and learned much from each other.
“The Future Leaders Group programme provides a unique opportunity for its participants. Using a strengths-based method of insightful learning, we have found the impact of this approach to be extremely beneficial for both our colleague and our business. The opportunity to network with likeminded individuals progressing in their roles also, continues to provide benefits today. Bringing this experience to Board level has been a primary opportunity for our business.”
Kevin Hall, Operations Director, Desco
“The Future Leaders Group programme has created strong and positive change for our businesses. Both participants have demonstrated the value of the output of this experience. Both now contribute or operate at board level and have direct impact on business strategy and growth. Both have used the programme experience to build significant careers with us. A true investment in colleague development and growth.”
Lorraine Palmer, Head of HR, RSBG
